Listed below are the Mission Dance and Performing Arts policies.
Please feel free to call the school at 510.651.2783 for any further
information.
Enrollment
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. For full classes,
a waiting list will be maintained to accommodate other students
if and when space becomes available.
Special
Features
Classes are limited in size and students are grouped according
to age and ability level. Ample opportunity to participate in public
performances, pageants, exhibitions and competitions is presented.
For individuals or groups who plan to participate in the competitions,
special choreographic assistance is available.
Tuition
We charge a one time registration
fee of $30.00. Monthly fees are pro-rated and based on lessons received
for a full dance season (September through June) and not on lessons
per month. Tuition is due on the first lesson each month. A $10.00
late fee will be charged for tuition paid after the 15th of the
month. More about Tuition
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for the student to progress. Please
be on time. There are no make-up classes or refunds for missed lessons.
Student
Responsibilities
Besides regular attendance, practice at home contributes vitally
to a student's development.
Parents
and Guests
Classes require complete concentration between students and teachers.
With the exception of Kinderdance, the blinds will only be open
for the first lesson of each month when parents and friends are
invited to observe. Prospective students may observe by inquiring
at the front office.
Annual
Calendar
The calendar provides information on activities and holidays for
the year. Please check information on the website and/or bulletin
boards each month for special events and extra shows in which we
participate during the dance season. We also have a community billboard
posted in the back lobby for our customers to post such things as
second hand dance shoes for sale, bulletins on outside performances,
events of special interest and advertisements.
Dance Supplies
Ballet, tap and jazz shoes needed for your class may be purchased
at the school. Please inquire at the front desk for this information.
Competition
Teams
All competition team members are selected by the teachers. Team
members are required to take at least 2 to 3 hours of dance instruction
per week. There are additional charges to be on a competition team
and extra classes on the weekend. Students are required to attend
competitions. Competition schedule will be handed out to selected
classes at the beginning of the competition season.
Annual
Stage Production
All students are invited to participate in our annual live theatre
production. Our dance recital is an extension of the benefits derived
from dance training. As part of their participation in the show,
students learn showmanship, develop their teamwork skills, to overcome
shyness and to project and express their individual personalities.
Dance costumes are required to be purchased by student/parent from
dance costume companies. Price info will be sent out at time of
teachers' selection of music and theme.
Dance Attire
All students must dress properly for class. All dancers must respect
others, practice good dance manners. Our goal is to learn, enjoy,
and then perform. A bad attitude can take the "star" image
from the most accomplished dancer. Be humble with your talent. It
is a gift.
