Mission
Dance & Performing Arts 2012 Competition Team Students

  
  
Our
philosophy towards competition revolves around a simple concept:
the thrill of performance. The goal is to instill in our dancers
that through higher education
in
the art of dance; it
is also fun and the thrill of performing is more important
than the award itself.
We
want them to dance, dance, dance.... work hard and and enjoy every
minute of it.
Being
on a competition team at MDPA requires dedication and sportsmanship.
Not only do the dancers train all week, they also build strong friendships
that last far past their years at the studio.
The dancers are required to take ballet technique, leaps & turns,
tumbling, stretch & strength to support their form of competition
class they are in.
Students
learn and perfect routines and then begin their competition season
in February or March. In the summer, the dancers compete in
a National competition which completes their dance season. Students
are required to attend all regional competitions and Nationals,no
exceptions.
The dance educators of MDPA watch with much pride as their dancers
take the stage at each competition. With each step, smile
and movement they are achieving our goal: the thrill of performing!

We
are committed to offering our students the highest degree of quality
dance instruction, personal development, achievement, and enjoyment.
Students
need to dance year round. Training starts during summer session,
July 10th - August 18th.
Summer
Intensive is AUGUST 12-15.
You
must be enrolled, starting and maintaining all required classes
as of September 4th 2012 through end of June/July 2013.
Class
Requirements: Contemporary, Jazz, & Tap students are required
to take 3 supplementary classes which are:
1.
Ballet Technique 2. Leaps & Turns 3. Tumbling, Stretch &
Strength at MDPA no exceptions.
Hip
Hop students are required to take 2 supplementary classes which
are: 1. Leaps & Turns 2. Tumbling, Stretch & Strength at
MDPA no exceptions.
Expenses:
(all are approximate) Competition entry fees: $40 per dance per
competition.
Costume deposit: $95 per dance, $50 team uniform, $35 makeup kit.
This
does not include: tuition, shoes and dancewear.
Transportation
to and from competitions is student/ parent responsibility.
Competitions
normally take place in March, April and May during one weekend of
each month.
Nationals
are out of town for a week in July if determined that MDPA attends.
