Marigenna "Genna"
Reyes has trained in different types of dance such as Hula/Tahitian,
ballroom, basic ballet and jazz, and Hip-Hop. Growing up in San
Francisco, Genna trained in hip-hop at the Westlake School of Performing
Arts and was in their hip hop company called Xplicit. Being a Group
X Instructor teaching funky aerobics at fitness centers, Genna also
teaches cotillions, better known as 18th birthdays. From 2005-2008,
she taught hip hop at Cal. State Eastbay for the Filipino organization
known as P.A.S.A.’s annual show called P.C.N. (Philipino Cultural
Night). Aside from teaching she is studying to be in the Medical
field and dancing with For The Cause Dance Crew (1st place - Last
Crew Standing Competition [2009] , Opened up for hip hop rap star
Ludacris - Springfest [2009], 1st place - Hip Hop 4 Hope Competition
[2010]).
Genna's goal as a teacher and to Mission Dance Performing Art’s
School is to share her knowledge about dance and hip-hop. Also,
to inspire her students to not only learn dance etiquette and choreography,
but also background information about dance and hip hop to expand
their horizons on the appreciation for dance as an art and form
of language.
