Jenna Bernard
Jenna Bernard has been dancing for
the past 16 years training formally in tap, ballet/pointe, jazz,
lyrical, and modern. A Sacramento native, Jenna attended Sue Geller
Dance Studio under the instruction of Sue Geller, Shirin Keyani-Rose,
Diana Ruslin, and Joanna Summerhays. Jenna also studied with Susan
Cherny and Christina Holly at Grace Academy of Dance. She is currently
attending San Jose State University and will receive her B.A. in
Dance in the spring of 2010.
Jenna has taught tap, jazz, and ballet at Sue Geller Dance Studio
and Grace Academy of Dance and loves to share her passion for the
performing with others. Jenna has performed with the Sue Geller
Dance Company and the Grace in Motion Company in several areas throughout
Northern California, as well as Las Vegas, Nevada. She has also
had the honor of performing on a good-will tour to Italy and with
Carnival Cruise Lines in Mexico. In both 2003 and 2004, Jenna received
the “Sweetheart” award at a regional I Love Dance competition.
She has also received awards for “Best Musicality” and
“Overall High Score,” as well as scholarships from the
Dance Educators of America. Currently, Jenna is a member of Company
One, a musical theater company at San Jose State. With Company One,
she has performed in the premier of “NERDS” and “CSI:CVU,”
under the direction of her mentor, Janie Scott. Jenna is also currently
training with Gary Masters, Fred Mathews, Jill Yager, and Heather
Cooper and feels so privileged to work with such talented and inspirational
instructors. Jenna is thrilled to be joining the MDPA staff teaching
jazz, ballet and tap classes.
