Here are some comments from satisfied students and
their families.
From
the Hillmans:
Our two daughters, ages 13 and 16, have been part
of the Mission Dance and Performing Arts family for about 10 years.
I call it the MDPA "family" because that is exactly
what it is. The teachers and other parents treat every child with
care, support and encouragement. The older students are wonderful
examples for the younger children and have often acted as "big
sisters" to the little dancers. Everyone applauds one another
and team spirit is always at its best. Together we support one
another and are there for each other during personal good times
and bad. The teachers at MDPA make sure each child feels successful.
They are never degraded nor criticized. From the National Champions
to the first time dancer, every child is made to feel like they
are a star. The dancers have fun!!!!! And it shows as we continue
to bring home trophies and award money at regional and national
competitions.
MDPA is a fun, safe place to be and I feel fortunate
that we are a part of this wonderful association.

From
the Allens:
Mission Dance has been a part of our family for
12 years now. Each of our 3 daughters began dance when they were
3 years old. We started our oldest at another studio but moved
her and her sisters to Mission Dance after seeing our middle daughter
dance in her first recital for MDPA. We saw that the quality of
teaching was superior and have been in the MDPA family ever since.
We say family because that's what it feels like. The relationships
with the teachers and other member families has been just one
of the rewards here.
We have watched with pride and admiration, the growth
of each of our daughters in ability and confidence. They are involved
in all disciplines: tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and lyrical. They
have not only been in numerous competitions but have also danced
in the Oakland Ballet's "Nutcracker" with other Mission
dancers. In addition they have grown with their participation
in solos and duets. With all the time they spend practicing, we
are happiest and proudest of the fact that they never complain
and still love to go to practice. Their dedication has allowed
us to more easily instill values we hold high in importance: hard
work, obligation to their teams, perserverance, patience, confidence
in one's own abilities, and a passion for what you do. These traits
transfer over to school, work , relationships, and all aspects
of life. That is why we still come to Mission Dance and also why
it will be a sad day when we no longer do.

From the Bunkers:
My daughter, Misha, has danced with MDPA since she
was 3. The experience has had such a positive influence on her
life that she has even written papers at school highlighting some
of her dance teachers. As a parent, I love the self confidence
that dance has taught her. It has given her the ability to feel
comfortable in performing in front of a crowd even as a soloist.
She now dances every day but still manages to stay involved in
other sports including a competitive soccer league. After a few
recitals she got the whole family hooked. Her younger brother
has also danced since he was 3 and is now on his third year of
boys' House dance. Don’t you love those boys who aren’t
afraid to get out on the dance floor! Even dad got hooked and
has been part of the “dancing dads” for the past four
years!
